The Age of Stupid “The Age of Stupid” and Brent Friends of the Earth Brent Friends of the Earth organised a week-long series of high-profile screening events (link to Not Stupid week) for the launch week of 'The Age of Stupid' , attracting over one thousand three hundred people to watch this climate change film at The Tricycle cinema in Kilburn. Highlights of the 16 events included Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change Ed Miliband in conversation with the film’s Director Franny Armstrong; a packed Youth screening with Harry Potter actor Jason Isaacs; as well as former mayor Ken Livingstone, who gave us an exclusive interview, and local MP Sarah Teather attending question and answer sessions . Sarah Teather even mentioned the film and the screening in the House of Parliament. What you can do Host your own screening of “The Age of Stupid” Community screenings are a great way to raise awareness of climate change and discuss what we can do about it. Brent Friends of the Earth have so far funded three screenings of the film in community centres and a church community. If you are interested in hosting a screening in Brent, please get in touch with us by emailing ageofstupid@brentfoe.com; all you will need to provide is the venue, a screen and a DVD player and we will pay for the license, organise local speakers for the evening and stalls by relevant community groups. This low-budget film was funded on a shoe-string, so by holding licensed independent screenings you will also help support the film makers, Spanner Films. |
