Green Fair nominated for outreach award
Brent FoE's Green Fair in Willesden Green was recognised as a great success by being nominated for an Earthmover Award for best outreach event at this year's Friends of the Earth conference in Nottingham.
Nominating the group, Tom Wright, Friends of the Earth's South-East Co-Ordinator, said:
"Brent Friends of the Earth’s Green Fair proved a real hit with local residents. And they organised it all themselves! It’s a great example of outeach."
The group were also praised by several of the organisations who took part in the event.
Ken Montague, Secretary, Brent Campaign against Climate Change said,
“The green fair gave us a great opportunity to engage with residents, and also meet MP Barry Gardiner, who has since agreed to speak at a local public meeting on climate change. With Steffi and Viv’s support we had a really creative and interactive stall with a polar bear – something we hadn’t done before. It gave us a chance to raise our profile as a group, getting our picture in the local paper and on websites."
Sadly we did not win the award, but congratulations to Camden FoE who won for their highly successful Vegan Banquet and Energy Bill public meeting.
