A public meeting “Energy Conversations – how to make it and how to save it” is being held on Monday 14th November at St Anne's and St Andrew's Church, Salusbury Road in Queens Park at 7.30pm.  The event, organised by “Transition Kensal to Kilburn” and Brent Friends of the Earth, will explore how residents can be more energy efficient and also generate energy from their homes.

Three speakers will be Armstrong Yakubu, Foster and Partners, on Sustainable Cities, Tom Pakenham, Green Tomato Energy, on Passivhaus and Solar PV, and Sarah Nicholl, Transition Belsize, on draught busting.

Transition Kensal To Kilburn Co-ordinator, George Latham, says,

"Transition is all about working together as a community and becoming less reliant on oil for everything that we do.  How we heat our homes is a critical part of the jigsaw.  We all need to become much more aware of how we can save money and use less energy, and how we can get what energy we do need from clean and renewable sources.  By coming together as a community, we can support and help each other make the transition to more sustainable energy use."

Brent Friends of the Earth spokesperson, Viv Stein, says,

“As people face higher energy prices and more Brent residents are at risk from fuel poverty, home energy efficiency is a very important issue.  There is also much confusion about the recent changes to the feed-in-tariff scheme announced last week by the Government.  We hope that this meeting will be informative and help Brent residents make sense of how best to save and to make energy.”

The meeting is being held at the Rotunda, St Anne's and St Andrew's Church, 125 Salusbury Road, NW6 6RG at 7.30pm.  All are welcome to come along and entry is free.  Please bring food and drink to share.
