Brent Against Climate Change

Local groups campaign against climate change - photo credit Jan Nevill   Public meeting - how we can fight climate change locally

Brent FoE took part in a public meeting in March organised by the Brent Campaign against Climate Change. Entitled After Copenhagen… how do we fight climate change.  It explored where we go from here in Brent after the much-hyped international conference in December ended in a hugely disappointing and weak accord.

Steffi Gray, our Community Liaison Officer, offered advice on what local people can do, in particular getting involved in local campaigns and consultations, and making use of various policies such as Brent sustainable communities strategy, sustainable travel plans and the local development framework.

Members of the public also endorsed our Brent Cross campaign.

As a result of the meeting a steering group is being set up as a focus for local action, such as an alternative climate change strategy for Brent, since many are dissatisfied with the Council’s inaction.  Steffi is representing Brent FoE on this group.
