A team of 13 of us worked at different times on our Brent Friends of the Earth stall at Queens Park day on 15th September.
We provided examples of climate action some of us are taking, and used a short survey to talk to people about what they are doing now about the climate (individual actions, and campaign type actions), and what would help them to do more. We had a separate survey for children.
This seemed to work well as a good talking point, and we were able to pass on the information we know including the use of Brentrecycleopedia (provides information on recycling items which are not picked up by the council, including soft plastic). As one of our group said "I found it interesting to ask people what they did- it opened up the conversation more easily".
From the surveys we know we talked to over 60 adults and 9 children. We also shared our climate action "fortuneteller" game with children, which was very popular.
We were heartened that many children told us that they were actively discussing the climate at school. As one of our team said "I was glad to hear from both primary and secondary kids how much the schools are doing to raise awareness about climate and environment and try to instil good behaviours at a young age"
Information and ideas from the surveys will be written up and shared on the website soon.
