Barry Gardiner MP gives inspiring presentation at FoE meeting

Barry Gardiner, MP for Brent West, came to our May meeting, and gave an excellent presentation on "What we can do about climate change". An adaptation of a presentation he gave to a COP meeting in Colombia, this was packed with information, ideas and even a few jokes. It illustrated the often negative way in which politicians often interact with nature, and alerted us all to the dangers of pursuing GDP growth at the expense of the needs of the environment on which we all depend.
Barry stayed to answer a range of questions and comments about the presentation, and about the positive role that FoE can play in influencing the political process. For some notes on the preentation and discussion, click here.
Barry was also very critical of the plans for opening up more oil drilling in the North Sea, and was happy to sign the "Stop Rosebank" pledge:
